Biography

Robert M. Pirsig (1928-2017) was an American writer and philosopher, best known for his influential book Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry into Values (1974). Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Pirsig served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later studied philosophy at the University of Minnesota.

His seminal work, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, combines a philosophical exploration with a narrative of a cross-country motorcycle journey, delving into themes of quality, values, and the intersection of technology and human experience. The book became a bestseller and has been highly regarded for its deep philosophical insights and engaging prose.
