The Hoax

"The Hoax," released in 2006, is based on the true story of Clifford Irving, a writer who successfully fabricated the autobiography of Howard Hughes in the 1970s. The film follows Irving as he cons the publishing industry, claiming he has exclusive access to the reclusive billionaire, while evading scrutiny and increasing paranoia. Richard Gere portrays Clifford Irving, with a supporting cast including Alfred Molina and Hope Davis.
