"The Raven" (1935) is a horror film loosely based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe. The movie follows Dr. Richard Vollin, a Poe enthusiast and surgeon, who becomes obsessed with a young woman named Jean whom he believes resembles Poe's poem's Lenore. When Jean rejects his advances, Vollin's obsession turns deadly as he seeks to fulfill his Poe-inspired revenge fantasies. As Vollin's madness escalates, a gripping cat-and-mouse game ensues between him and the other characters, leading to a chilling climax.
